This section provides some tips on how to use Imaging for Windows. If
you are having problems with earlier versions of Imaging for Windows that
were bundled with several Microsoft operating systems, contact Microsoft
or your OEM.
Display
- Do you have the same problem displaying a different image?
- Do you have the same problem using a different PC?
- If using the ImgEdit or ImgThumbnail controls, can you display the
same image using the Imaging or Preview applications?
OCR
- Can you OCR the sample image, Chapter1.tif?
- Do you see any error messages when OCRing? If so, what are they and
when do they occur?
- If using the OCR control, do you see the same results if you OCR the
same image using the Imaging application?
- If OCR is not generating an error, but the OCR results are poor,
review how to improve OCR results.
Printing
- What settings are you using to print the image? In the Print Dialog
box, click on the Options... button to the left of the OK button and try
printing with those different options to see if that corrects the
problem.
- If the image prints incorrectly, how does it look on the monitor?
- Do you see the same problem if you print the same image on another
printer?
- Try an alternate way of printing. If using the Print icon on the
toolbar, see if you have the same problem if you use the Print command
on the menu.
- Can you print the same image with another software package? For
example, can you print a BMP file with Paintbrush? If another software
package prints the image correctly, please tell us the name of the
package, its version, and how the printing is different.
- Many print problems are caused by outdated printer drivers. Check with
the manufacturer of your printer to see if there is an updated print
driver.
Scanning
- Does the scanner support TWAIN 1.9?
- Is the scanner certified with the operating system you are running?
Will the scanner work with another software package? If so, please tell
us the name of the package and its version.
