Scanning
How can I control the size of a scanned document?
When you scan a document, you can control the size of the resulting
document in a couple of ways. For example, if you are using DeskScan as
the TWAIN data source for your HP scanner, the option Millions of Colors
creates a 24-bit True Color image. Those files are large. If you change
the option to Color Photo, the image will be created as a 256-color image
instead. In a test we did, the file was 1/4 the size. You can also use
Tools->Options->Scan in Imaging for Windows to specify the default
compression used for scanned images. For example, choosing the preference
Good quality and small file size instead of Best display quality can
significantly reduce the size of color and grayscale images.

Will my TWAIN-compatible scanner work with Imaging?
Imaging for Windows uses the TWAIN 1.9 interface to access
TWAIN-compatible scanners. Check with your scanner manufacturer to see if
a data source is available to support TWAIN 1.9. You also need to verify
that your scanner is supported on your Windows operating system of choice.
Will there be special TWAIN drivers for selected compression and error
detection boards like those from Kofax, or do we need to work with the
manufacturers to get these?
Imaging for Windows supports the TWAIN 1.9 interface. Data sources that
drive particular devices have to be obtained from the device/scanner
manufacturer.
Where can I get help with my scanner?
From the scanner manufacturer.
TWAIN Drivers
What version of TWAIN does Imaging for Windows support?
Imaging for Windows supports the TWAIN 1.9 interface. Data sources that
drive particular devices (such as scanners and digital cameras) have to be
obtained from the device/scanner manufacturer. These usually ship with the
hardware. Sometimes updates can be downloaded from the hardware vendor's
web site.
ISIS Drivers
I have a scanner that uses ISIS drivers rather than TWAIN drivers, so I
cannot scan images from within Imaging for Windows. Do you plan to support
ISIS drivers in the future?
No, ISIS support is not planned for Imaging for Windows. With the
inclusion of TWAIN drivers in the Windows operating system, an increasing
number of scanners now ship with TWAIN drivers.
